The Buffalo Regional Office of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is pleased to announce its first Student Veteran Outreach Event on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, at the University at Buffalo Center for Tomorrow.

VA offers Veterans services and benefits, which includes health care, home loans, and compensation/pension to name a few, and would like to highlight the various education benefits available through VA.

The Buffalo Regional Office is home to one of three national Education Regional Processing Offices to empower Veterans and their dependents living in 12 east coast states, i.e. Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and North Carolina, as well as the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and foreign schools. In addition, we have a Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Division that work with Veterans and their dependent residing in the 31 western counties of New York and East of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.

In order to better serve our local Veteran community currently attending school and/or training programs, the Buffalo Regional Office is partnering with the Buffalo VA Medical Center, the Veteran One Stop, the Buffalo Mobile Vet Center, the Veteran Experience Office, and other local agencies to create a “one-stop” shop style event, where Veteran students can learn about upcoming changes to the GI Bill, new education benefits available through the Colmery Act, vocational rehabilitation and employment benefits, medical services, and other community resources geared to assisting with paying for school, job training, and job seeking.

VA employees will be on-hand to help answer questions, accept applications for benefits, and assist with specific claims. Presentations on the new Colmery Act, Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment, and medical services will be available, and audience members will have an opportunity to speak with the presenters.

The University at Buffalo graciously offered to serve as the host site for this exciting and informative event. Parking is free.
