FARLEY CHALLENGES GILLIBRAND TO ISSUE NO-RUN PLEDGE

New York, New York — U.S. Senate candidate Chele Farley (R, C, Reform) today called on Kirsten Gillibrand to issue a declarative statement regarding whether or not she intends to run for President in 2020.
“Be straight with New Yorkers: Are you running for President or not?” said Farley. “New Yorkers deserve to know if they are voting to elect a Senator who will be working for them full time or will it be a part-time job.”
During yesterday’s debate, Gillibrand attempted to put the issue of her Presidential ambitions to rest, telling ABC 7 moderator Bill Ritter, “I will serve my six-year term.” Yet, less than a half hour later in a post-debate Q-and-A with reporters, Gillibrand immediately attempted to walk back that commitment, talking about her “intent” to serve a full six-year term.
Farley today called on Gillibrand to issue a declarative statement about her 2020 ambitions.
“It’s simple, for the Senator’s convenience, all she needs to do is affix her name to the following no-nonsense quote: ‘If drafted, I will not run; if nominated, I will not accept; if elected, I will not serve,’” said Farley.
Farley noted in yesterday’s debate that during the month of October Gillibrand has spent more days (five) campaigning in other states (Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Tennessee and the early Presidential primary state of New Hampshire) than she has in New York (three). The New York Times also reported that Gillibrand has built up a $10.7 million campaign account that is among the largest in the country and spent only a tiny fraction on her re-election bid in New York.
Said Farley, “It’s not unusual for Kirsten Gillibrand to flip flop. After all, she’s made a career of it. But yesterday’s cynical backtracking had to set a new speed record for her. On behalf of all the New Yorkers who deserve a full-time Senator, I challenge Senator Gillibrand to issue a clear and concise statement about her intent.”

Chele Farley is an outsider with over 25 years of experience in the private sector. She is the Republican, Conservative and Reform Party candidate for U.S. Senate. Farley lives in New York City with her husband Richard and their three sons. For more information about U.S. Senate candidate Chele Farley, please visit www.CheleFarleyforSenate.com.
